Pick of the Day

British tweed, Italian styling and a German heart: 1952 Bristol 401.

1952 Bristol 401
The 401 combines Bristol Aeroplane Company's build quality with BMW’s advanced 326 chassis and 328 engine design clothed in a Touring of Milan developed Superleggera aerodynamic body. When new it cost not far short of a Bentley and I think it is every bit as good and in some respects its looks, excellent handling and strong performance make it even better.

Warwick Without A Peer

1961 Warwick GT350
Editorial: The Peerless was a low-cost British sports car in production from 1957 until 1960. It had a fiberglass body and a space frame with Triumph TR running gear and front suspension. Not many were sold and when the company folded, the concept was modified and resold as the Warwick. Nevertheless, this model was also short-lived. Towards the end of production a 3.5 litre Buick was fitted instead of the 2 liter Triumph engine. The company closed its door in 1964. At their next Spring Classics Auction on March 11th, Coys will offer the factory demonstrator, that first had the Triumph engine, but later received the all-aluminium Buick V8. Known as the GT350, it had (and still has) quite a racing history. Check lot 237! (photos courtesy Coys)

Known in Europe as the Sharknose
the BMW 2000CS

1967 BMW 2000 CS
This elegant BMW 2000 CS Coupé is in an extremely well maintained and original condition, due to the clear history of this car, showing only two owners from new, the first one, a french count living in Burgundy, who owned her for 41 years, and the second one, a long-time BMW enthusiast from Alsace, who both gave all their attention to the profound maintenance of this car. Except for a new painting job in the original chamonix-white colour a few years ago, the entire car is in untouched and original condition. Painting, chrome and interior are flawless, the mecanics are working perfectly, and the body is sound throughout. The original mileage of 113.000 km indicates careful handling during the last 43 years. The powerful engine easily enables to take on with actual traffic.

A most elegant way to tour long distance:
1962 Rolls-Royce Phantom V by James Young. Private Sale, Cape Town.
